What spiritual coaching is, and what separates it from life coaching.

What spiritual coaching is, and what separates it from life coaching.

Life coaching works with the level of the conscious mind: your goals, your actions, your plans, your patterns of behaviour. Valuable. Also limited to what the conscious mind can access.

What the conscious mind can and cannot reach

It can reach the plan. It cannot reach the reason the plan keeps not happening.

That is the practical difference and it is easy to test on yourself. Most people already know what they should do about the big thing. They have known for a while. The knowing is not the missing piece.

So a conversation that produces a better plan is useful if the plan was the problem. If the plan was never the problem, you leave with a tidier version of the same stuck.

Spiritual coaching goes deeper. It works with your relationship to something larger than the personal self, your intuition, your soul's direction, the sense of purpose that exists beneath all the goal-setting and achievement.

What that means without the vocabulary

It means we spend less time on what you want and more on what you already know and have not been able to act on.

Those sound similar. They are not. What you want is a plan. What you already know is usually 1 sentence, you have been avoiding it for about 8 months, and it arrives in your body before it arrives in words.

The work is mostly about getting the signal clear enough to hear and safe enough to follow. Everything else follows from that.

And purpose, in this context, is not a job title. It is the direction you keep turning back towards whenever you stop managing yourself.

For some women this framework feels immediately natural. They already know there's more to what's happening than the visible level. This coaching gives those things a container.

For others, it's new territory. They come because the conventional approaches haven't reached the thing they're most trying to change. They're sceptical but curious. The work doesn't require belief. It requires only openness.

Which one you are probably looking for

A rough test, and it is rough on purpose.

If you know what you want and cannot work out the steps, you want a plan, and a good life coach will be faster and cheaper than me.

If you have the steps, have had them for a while, and keep not taking them, the obstacle is not information.

If the thing you are trying to change is a feeling rather than a situation, a plan will not reach it.

And if you have done a lot of work already and can explain yourself very fluently while nothing much has shifted, that fluency is usually the thing in the way.

None of this makes one better than the other. They are different tools and most people need both at different points. I have had excellent coaching about a spreadsheet.

What people try first, and why it does not hold

The first thing people try is harder goals. A new system, a 90 day plan, up at 6. It works for about 3 weeks, which is roughly how long willpower lasts.

The second is understanding. Working out where it came from, reading everything, being able to describe the pattern in detail. Genuinely useful, and it does not on its own stop the pattern happening on Thursday.

The third is waiting to feel ready. Ready is not a state that arrives. It is something you notice afterwards, about a decision you already made.

What tends to hold is smaller than any of those. You find the thing you already know, you say it out loud to somebody once, and then you do 1 small thing that is consistent with it.

How the work actually runs

My approach draws on energy alignment, IFS, somatic work, and pendulum and belief repatterning. We begin wherever you are.

In practice that means we start with what is going on for you, not with a questionnaire or a framework. The session shapes itself around what turns up.

Some of it is talking. A fair amount of it is not, because the thing being worked with does not live in language.

You do not have to be able to explain what you want from it. Most people cannot, at the start, and the not being able to is often the most useful piece of information in the room.

What to notice

Notice the subject you change. There is usually 1, and it is the one.

Notice what you call it when you talk about it. Shrinking a large thing down into something casual is how we make it survivable, and it is also how it stays.

Notice what happens in your body when you read the sentence you already know is true. That reaction is not an obstacle. It is the signal working.

Notice how long you have been meaning to do something about this. That number is not a reproach. It is just information about how patient the pattern is.

If you would rather start somewhere quieter than a session, there is The Reset Room, which is a community where people listen to music activations and meditations, find deep relaxation, and connect with other conscious and awakening souls.
