The Reset Room is a community. That is the plainest way I can put it, and it took me a while to say it that simply.
It is a place where you can listen to music activations and meditations, find deep relaxation, and connect with other conscious and awakening souls. That is what is actually inside it.
For a long time I described it as a membership, which is accurate and tells you nothing. A membership is a payment arrangement. A room is somewhere you go.
What is in it every month
A live group session, hosted on Zoom, recorded for anyone who cannot be there on the night. People turn up with their cameras off and a blanket on and that is entirely welcome.
The music activations, which are the thing people come back for and the hardest to explain on a page. You lie down, you let it run, and your system does something you did not have to organise.
Meditations, for the days when you want somebody else to hold the structure.
The resource library, including the workbook and the past workshop recordings, so nothing you have paid attention to disappears a week later.
And a monthly Signal Check in your inbox, which is a short prompt rather than a piece of homework.
The part that is not on the list
The other people.
That sounds like the soft bit of the offer and it is in fact the load bearing wall. Doing this on your own is slower, and not because you are doing it wrong.
A settled nervous system borrows from other settled nervous systems. It is the oldest mechanism we have and it does not work through a screen as well as it works in a room, but it works through a screen a great deal better than it works alone at 11 at night.
Most people arrive having read a great deal and spoken to almost nobody.
Who it tends to suit
People who have done some work and want to keep going.
People who are not ready for 1 to 1, or do not want it, and know that an occasional workshop is not quite enough to hold a practice together.
People who want company as part of the practice rather than as an extra.
It is also the most natural next step after a day on the boat. Something shifts, you go home, and by the Thursday after you can feel it starting to slide. That gap is exactly what the room is for.
What it is not
It is not a course with an end date and a certificate.
It is not a group where you are expected to perform progress. Plenty of people come, lie down, say nothing and leave, and that is a complete use of the evening.
And it is not an emergency service. If you are in the middle of something acute, that needs proper support, and I will say so rather than sell you a room.
What people get wrong about joining something
They wait until they have the time, which is the wrong way round. The reason the week is like that is the reason to come.
Or they join and then set themselves a standard. Every session, every recording, the workbook finished by March. That lasts about 5 weeks and then the guilt arrives and the guilt is what makes people leave.
The honest way to use it is to turn up when you can and let the rest sit there. It is not a subscription you are failing. It is a room that is open.
What to notice if you come
How you are in the 10 minutes afterwards. Not during. After.
Whether you sleep differently that night. A lot of people notice that first and it surprises them.
And whether, somewhere around week 3, you find yourself reaching for 1 of the practices on an ordinary afternoon without planning to. That is the point at which it has stopped being something you attend and started being something you have.
As for cost, I would rather tell you directly than leave a figure on a page that goes out of date. Ask me and I will answer plainly.
What a music activation actually is, since nobody ever explains it
You lie down. The music runs. You do not have to do anything with it, and that is the part people find hardest for about the first 10 minutes.
There is no instruction to follow and nothing to get right. You are not being asked to visualise, or to breathe in a pattern, or to arrive at an insight by the end.
What tends to happen is that the system drops a gear somewhere in the middle without being told to. Sometimes that arrives as heaviness, sometimes as a yawn that will not stop, sometimes as tears about nothing in particular.
None of that is required either. Plenty of people lie there and feel mildly bored and get up noticeably calmer, which is its own kind of evidence.
The reason it is in a room with other people rather than on a file you download is that a shared room settles faster, and it is harder to get up and check your phone when 20 other people are lying still.
Why monthly, rather than daily
Because a daily practice is for the ordinary maintenance and a monthly room is for the deeper drop, and the 2 jobs are different.
Most people try to do the deeper one alone, at night, when they are already past it. It rarely lands, and then they conclude it does not work for them.
